Decision-makers need to effectively communicate across several marketing channels in the new millennium. Print media remains a vital component of most organizations’ overall marketing and communication strategies. The ability to brand a message and reach a target audience with credible, tangible materials still provides advantages compared with digital communication.
Imlay International can bring your organization vital print and mail production knowledge that will save you money. We will manage the entire printing process for you to ensure your marketing materials are of the highest quality.
In the early 2000’s the printing industry was changing dramatically. 2001 and the months following 9/11 were particularly challenging economically, and the situation was further complicated by the expanding role of communication via email and the internet. As a result, family-owned print shops that had populated the Mid-Atlantic region for decades were consolidating and closing their doors at an alarming rate.
Lincoln Imlay was an experienced commercial printing sales representative who had worked for DC-area commercial offset printers for 20+ years. Lincoln saw the changes occurring and wanted to be able to offer his clients more. The same technology that was causing the printing industry to contract was changing the way printing would be sold in the years to come. High-speed internet connectivity, software and file formats, and proofing technology were all evolving, opening the door for greater efficiency and productivity using manufacturing facilities outside the DC area. In 2004, with all of this in mind, Lincoln founded Imlay International, LLC.
David Orgel began working with Lincoln that first year, creating an effective partnership that combined Lincoln’s sales skills and printing knowledge with David’s editorial background and technical design, production, and prepress expertise.
In January 2007, Shawn Paxton joined Lincoln and David, expanding sales and complementing the team with his experience in the paper business and print estimating.
In April 2007, Imlay International tragically lost its founder, with Lincoln’s untimely passing. Today, Lincoln’s vision and name live on, as Imlay International continues the tradition of providing the highest level of personal service and value to its clients.
Lincoln Imlay entered the field of commercial printing in the early 1980’s. His work consisted primarily of selling high-quality sheet-fed and web offset printing, consulting with designers and clients, and preparing estimates and proposals. His tenure in printing saw a number of sweeping changes, both in technology and business structure. In 2004, Lincoln founded Imlay International, LLC. His vision was to establish a network of the finest vendor/partner companies available, with the goal of offering clients the highest quality at the lowest prices. Lincoln was a graduate of Bowdoin College. He died suddenly in April 2007.
David Orgel has more than 35 years’ experience in a range of areas related to printed and electronic communications. Most of his career has focused on the editing and production of technical publications, books, journals, magazines, and other printed materials; in the last decade he has also devoted time to Web design and production and other paperless forms of communication. In 2004, with the idea of focusing on associations and other non-profits as clients, David helped Lincoln Imlay found Imlay International, LLC. David is a graduate of Vassar College.
